Cynthia Ruse is a painter and installation artist based in Brooklyn NY. Her work reflects on environmental issues, social justice and personal mythology, through the lens of collective versus individual experience. Through the weaving of narratives often drawn from mythic archetypes, a delicate synthesis of opposites results. Stories are created within physical spaces inviting exploration of light and dark and the many ways in which both can be inhabited.

Her installation work has been exhibited in diverse spaces including FIT Art and Design Gallery, Governors Island, Culture Lab, her paintings have been shown internationally.

She is currently a director at the NYC exhibition project ArtPawn, which has focused on incubating assisting first time artist/curators. She has previously served as a curator with 4Heads, an NYC based non-profit dedicated to artists helping artists.
